Hundreds of people attend a fundraiser at the Olympia Fields McDonald's.

Over a thousand people attended a fundraiser at the Olympia Fields McDonald’s in support of Park Forest Officer Timothy Jones, 24, who survived life-threatening injuries during a shootout in March.
The Chicago Tribune reports:
In the weeks since rookie Officer Tim Jones was hit three times by gunfire from 21-year-old Thurman Reynolds, more than $90,000 has been raised by a community drawn together over the senseless shooting of one its protectors.
"Sometimes, they are the unsung heroes," said Karen McCray, 65, of Matteson.
The Rich Township 227 Band played at the Olympia Fields McDonald’s during the event on April 11, 2016.
