Woman, 32, Dead In Early Morning Homewood Crash: Police

According to police, the woman's car hit a tree shortly before 4 a.m. Saturday.

HOMEWOOD, IL — A fatal car crash early Saturday morning left one woman dead after police said her car hit a tree.

Homewood police said the crash occurred Saturday at 3:42 a.m. near 18350 Harwood Avenue. When officers arrived, officials told Patch a black Dodge had hit a tree near the intersection of Harwood Avenue and Birch Road.

The driver, later identified as 32-year-old Kiara Hale, was pronounced dead at the scene. As of Monday, Homewood police had not determined the cause of the crash but said the Suburban Major Accident Reconstruction Team was still investigating.

Hale's cause of death has not yet been determined, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office.
