Zhamarius Wooten, 14, is Glenwood Academy’s Student of the Month
Wooten is a current student at Marian Catholic High School, and formerly attended, and currently lives at Glenwood Academy

Zhamarius Wooten is the Glenwood Academy Student of the Month. Zhamarius is 14-years-old and has attended and lived at Glenwood Academy for six years. He is currently in his freshman year at Marian Catholic High School. Glenwood Academy funds Zahamarius’s education at Marian Catholic High School.
Zhamarius has three siblings, including a little sister who is four-years-old, and two brothers, aged 18 and 22.
He currently boasts a 4.0 GPA at Marian High School. His favorite subject is theology because he finds the class engaging and enjoys the discussions.

During Zharmaius’s time at Glenwood Academy, his favorite teacher was Ms. Hadnott, who made science fun and engaging.
“It has been wonderful seeing Zhamarius grow academically, socially and as a leader during his time at Glenwood Academy,” said Anne Budicin, vice president of Academic Affairs, Glenwood Academy. “He has a bright future ahead of him.”

In his free time, Zhamarius enjoys playing video games and has grown to love reading. He also plays soccer.
When he gets older, Zhamarius would like to go to college to become a lawyer, and eventually a judge.
When asked what his favorite thing is about Glenwood, Zhamarius says, “I love Glenwood’s nurturing environment and the preparation for the future it provides.”
Glenwood Academy provides a life-changing education and residential living access for students who come from challenging situations, and who have been impacted by poverty, violence, inadequate educational systems, as well as a lack of basic resources, such as food and shelter. Located in Glenwood, Ill., 35 miles south of Chicago, Glenwood Academy is a supportive learning community serving over 150 children ranging from ages seven to 24 from 60 communities throughout the Greater Chicago area. Nearly 100% of our children live at or below the poverty line and 92% come from single parent households.
