I moved into Green Trees Apartments seven years ago and immediately fell in love with the majestic overhead canopy of green leaves and brown branches. The Trees provide shade and cooling to the many walkways, park benches, and patios for the garden apartments. Our other residents: the squirrels, rabbits, an occasional red fox or barn owl, a circling hawk, cardinals and pigeons also enjoy the canopy, as we do.
I awoke a month ago to find large painted X's on more than fifteen beautiful trees (pictured). Some residents say the Trees are being cut down and removed, others nicely call it a trimming. I hope it is the latter, but my own inquiry to management gave the response "They have to go because they are a hazard".
We will have to see what happens. If you would like to see tree preservation in huntley, please inquire with the Huntley City Manager, or one of the many Huntley Trustees. You may wish to ask about Huntley Tree Preservation Ordinances.
