Similar calls are hitting Lake County, with fraudsters spoofing sheriff’s office numbers and pressuring victims to pay quickly. Residents are urged to hang up, never pay by phone, and verify directly with law enforcement.
   

• Boys basketball: Ottaway's stellar showing sparks McHenry during FVC win over Jacobs (dailyherald.com) — McHenry’s boys basketball team rode a 26-point night from junior forward Nate Ottaway to a 66-56 Fox Valley Conference win over Jacobs, staying near the top of the league. For Huntley fans, the Red Raiders head to Jacobs on Friday for FVC action, while McHenry hosts Crystal Lake Central, setting up an important stretch of conference games.
