13-Year-Old Severely Injured After Minibike Crash In Joliet Township: Police
The teen failed to yield and struck the side of an SUV, police said.
JOLIET TOWNSHIP, IL — A 13-year-old riding a motorized minibike was seriously injured Sunday in a collision with an SUV, according to the Will County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies responded around 4:20 p.m. to Elgin Avenue and Cayuga Street in Joliet Township, according to police, who said the teen was taken to a hospital with multiple broken bones and other severe injuries.
The teen had been traveling south on Cayuga Street but failed to yield at Elgin Avenue and struck the side of the westbound SUV, police said.

“Sheriff Mike Kelley reminds parents and guardians that allowing children to operate motorized vehicles such as minibikes or e-scooters on public roadways is both illegal and extremely dangerous,” according to a social media post from the sheriff’s office.
