13-Year-Old Sexually Assaulted, Impregnated By Cousin, 25

A Joliet man was jailed on sexual assault charges after his 13-year-old cousin told officials at her junior high school she was pregnant.

The 13-year-old girl was taken to Silver Cross Hospital in New Lenox where it was confirmed that she is 26 weeks pregnant.

The girl’s 25-year-old cousin, Arthur Johnson, was charged with predatory criminal sexual assault, criminal sexual assault and aggravated criminal sexual abuse. Johnson was arrested Monday.

Earlier that day, the 13-year-old told school administrators she believed she was pregnant. Will County deputies were sent to the school to interview the girl. Detectives from the sheriff’s department then went to Johnson’s Girard Boulevard home and picked him up for questioning.

“Johnson made statements implicating himself regarding sexually assaulting the 13-year-old at least five times during the past year,” police said.

Johnson’s bond was to be set Tuesday afternoon.
