Joliet Beauty Shop Sustains Fire, Smoke Damage On West Jefferson Street
Last week's fire destroyed the Subway in the 1700 block of West Jefferson. Wednesday's fire was five blocks south.

JOLIET, IL — Wednesday morning's fire inside a West Jefferson Street beauty shop was quickly extinguished by the Joliet Fire Department, but the mid-morning fire left significant smoke damage, according to a downtown battalion chief. The cause of the fire has not been determined; however, the fire was reported at 8:48 a.m. when a worker arrived at the building and discovered heavy smoke.
At the time of the fire, the business was closed. The business address is 1260 West Jefferson Street, it's at the corner of Reedwood Street.
Minutes after the Joliet Police Department Facebook page announced that the Wednesday morning blaze had closed down traffic going east in the 1200 block of West Jefferson Street, followers remarked that the structure fire is taking place inside the old Streitz dentist office at the corner of Reedwood and Jefferson.

This is the second consecutive week that a business on West Jefferson Street was damaged by a fire. Last week's fire took place at the Subway restaurant in the 1700 block of West Jefferson Street.
