JOLIET — The Joliet Police Department announced that a pair of adults, 46-year-old Joliet parent Alfred Mabry, along with 34-year-old Tamika Robinson of Bolingbrook, are now in the Will County Jail following two separate violent attacks after Troy Middle School let out for the day on Tuesday.

Will County Jail inmate Mabry faces three counts of aggravated battery, while the other new jail inmate, Robinson, is charged with aggravated battery to a peace officer, aggravated battery to a school employee and aggravated battery to a child under 13 years old.

Joliet police spokesman Dwayne English said the arrests of Mabry and Robinson unfolded after Joliet police responded at 2:31 p.m. Tuesday to a fight at Troy Middle School.

According to police, Mabry went to the school after becoming concerned other students were bullying his daughter, also a Troy Middle School student. While outside the school, Mabry was accused of shoving two girls, ages 14 and 15, whom he suspected of bothering his daughter. The juvenile victims were not injured.

English said Mabry returned to the Troy Middle School a short time later, when Joliet police were still investigating the incident. At that point, police allege, Mabry approached a family member of the juveniles he believed were bullying his daughter and punched the man in the face.

When the Joliet police officers tried to stop Mabry's fight, officials say Robinson approached from behind and began spraying pepper spray. Two Joliet officers, one Troy Middle School employee and a 2-year-old child were struck by Robinson’s pepper spray, police said.

Mabry and Robinson were placed into custody and brought to the Will County Jail.

Paramedics arrived in a Joliet Fire Department ambulance to treat everyone struck with pepper spray.

"This is an isolated incident and officers provided an increased presence at the school during dismissal on May 22," Sgt. English informed Joliet Patch's editor.
