2 Arrests, Plainfield South Student Beaten After Exiting Bus: JPD

As many as seven teenagers may have been involved in last week's attack, shortly after Plainfield South High School emptied for the day.

JOLIET — Joliet police say they arrested two 15-year-old students from Plainfield South High School on charges of aggravated battery and mob action after another student was beaten shortly after getting off his school bus back at his subdivision.

The two main culprits, Joliet police noted, are now being kept in Joliet at the River Valley Justice Center on McDonough Street.

On May 2, 2024, at 2:38 p.m., Joliet police responded to the 3000 block of Twin Falls Drive. They learned that a 16-year-old boy was attacked by several boys as he walked home after being dropped off by a school bus.

"It is believed as many as seven male teenagers arrived in two vehicles and attacked the victim," English announced.

The confrontation was interrupted by the victim's family member, and the suspects then sped away in their two vehicles.

As this investigation progressed, the two listed 15-year-old boys were identified as suspects in this incident. Both were students at Plainfield South High School and both were placed into custody on Friday at 8:33 a.m., at their high school along Caton Farm Road.

The two vehicles that were used during this incident were towed from the high school parking lot. This incident remains under active investigation, English stressed.
