2 Joliet Robbery Defendants Regain Freedom Under SAFE-T-Act From This Judge
Joliet police responded to a house in the 800 block of Richmond Street for a robbery this week.

JOLIET, IL — Despite efforts by the Joliet police force and the Will County State's Attorney's Office, Will County Judge Derek Ewanic has ruled in favor of two 19-year-old aggravated robbery and robbery co-defendants, Jimmy Myers and Jermon Myers, and ordered their release from custody.
The Myers' both reside in the apartment units in the 700 block of South Weber Road in Romeoville.
According to the prosecution's unsuccessful petition to deny their pretrial release, on Monday, Joliet police responded to a house in the 800 block of Richmond Street for a robbery. The victim, who said he weighed 110 pounds, notified police he used Instagram to buy marijuana at $170 for an ounce.

After a red Chevy arrived, someone went to the trunk for the transaction and that person had a gun that resembled a Glock, and he started hitting the victim. Two more people exited the Chevy and joined in the attack. Then a Buick pulled up and four more people exited and joined in the attack.
The victim told Joliet police he was hit with several guns and they took his crossbody bag that had $300 plus a vile of ashes from a deceased loved one. The victim's injuries were photographed by Joliet police and it appeared he was hit several times about his body and his head.

The victim refused medical attention.
According to prosecutors, Joliet police searched for the getaway vehicles and found the red Buick at a gas station on North Broadway Street and four people were detained. Criminal defendant Jimmy Myers, the only adult of the four, told officers it was his car. The victim later identified the four people as the ones who attacked him, court documents show.
Joliet police recovered from the trunk a .40-caliber bullet and a backpack with 18 baggies of marijuana weighing 63 grams. The backpack also had the ID for Jimmy Myers, court files show.
As for Jermon Myers, he was picked out of the police lineup as the person who was in the red Chevy who attacked him with a handgun, prosecutors revealed. The car belonged to the girlfriend of Jermon Myers, court records noted.
