2 More Arrests This Weekend At Anthony's Pub, Fight Victim Taken Away By Ambulance

At 2:14 a.m., Joliet police officers responded to Anthony's Restaurant and Pub at 3151 Voyager Lane for a fight.

JOLIET, IL — For the second weekend in a row, Joliet police have made an arrest — this time two arrests — in connection with an incident at the Anthony's Restaurant and Pub over by the Louis Joliet Mall. Unlike last weekend, this time someone went to St. Joe's hospital.

Joliet police said that Safari Miller, age 26, of Joliet and Maria Martinez, also 26, of Joliet, were both arrested and released on a notice to appear in Will County's Courthouse for charges of battery.

According to police spokesman Dwayne English, at 2:14 a.m. Sunday, officers responded to Anthony’s Restaurant and Pub at 3151 Voyager Lane for a fight. He said the officers learned that Martinez was accused of pouring a drink on a woman inside the establishment, leading to a physical confrontation between Miller and the woman.

Officers escorted Miller and the victim outside.

Martinez then exited the building and struck the victim, and both continued fighting in the parking lot before the officers gained control of the situation, the arrest report showed. Martinez and Miller were placed into custody without further incident.

English revealed that the victim was taken to St. Joseph Medical Center by the Joliet Fire Department for injuries she sustained in the fight. It is believed the victim was known to Martinez prior to the fight.
