2 Wounded, 2 in Custody For Shooting on Marcella Avenue
One of the wounded men was there to buy drugs, police said, and the other was the target of the gun attack.

Will County deputies responding to the shooting shortly after midnight Monday found a 28-year-old man riddled with bullets but still breathing. The man was taken to Presence St. Joseph Medical Center and then airlifted to Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood. He was reportedly in critical condition Tuesday afternoon.
Police searching for a vehicle described by witnesses pulled a car over near the corner of State and Jackson streets and took the driver and a passenger in for questioning. They remain in custody but have not been identified.
Criminal charges were expected to be filed later Tuesday, police said.
Detectives believe a second wounded man, age 33 was “visiting the Marcella Avenue residence to purchase illegal drugs” when a “vehicle pulled up, two subjects exited the vehicle and opened fire.”
“The 33-year-old victim was struck in the abdomen as he was sitting in his vehicle and fled the scene before deputies arrived,” police said. “He later arrived at the hospital where he was treated and released to sheriff’s investigators.”
The 28-year-old man likely was the “intended target of the shooting,” according to police. Detectives “also believe the 33-year-old victim was not the target and that he was in the wrong place, at the wrong time.”
