40 Gunshots Fired In Joliet, This Time 2 Homes, Parked Car Struck

Occupants of a sport utility vehicle fired multiple rounds before fleeing the area, Joliet police said.

JOLIET, IL — Joliet police say they are investigating Monday's late afternoon shooting on the city's east side that resulted in more than 40 gunshots being fired. The shooting happened at 3:27 p.m. at Youngs Avenue and Jackson Street, an area of the city's east side that has been prone to violent crime over the years.

Officers found evidence of a shooting, discovering over 40 spent shell casings.

"It is believed that occupants of a sport utility vehicle fired multiple rounds before fleeing the area," Joliet police spokesman Dwayne English said.

English advised the press that two homes and an unoccupied vehicle in the 300 block of Youngs Avenue were struck by the gunfire. No injuries were reported from the shooting.

English wanted everyone to know that this is an active investigation in its early stages as Joliet Police detectives work to identify a suspect or suspects.
