JOLIET, IL — The Joliet Police Department made a total of eight arrests early Sunday morning at the old Hollywood Casino Joliet property along Route 6/Channahon Road. Hollywood moved its casino to the Rock Run Collections at Interstates 55 and 80 in August, leaving the old casino vacant.

According to police spokesman Dwayne English, at 12:32 a.m., the officers responded to the former Hollywood Casino property located at 777 Hollywood Boulevard for a report of multiple people breaking into the building.

Officers spotted a door on the north side of the building propped open and saw several males walking inside. As the officers entered the building and announced their presence, the group ran toward the rear of the property and some ran from the building, ignoring commands from the officers to stop, police said. Officers outside the building found one of the teens, Rafael Navarro, and placed him into custody without incident.
