ACE Drive-In Closed Again Due To Heat, Cruise Night Canceled
The longtime Joliet favorite said it would remain closed Thursday for employees' safety.

JOLIET, IL — ACE Drive-In, a staple in Joliet for more than 75 years, announced it was temporarily closing again Thursday due to dangerous heat and humidity, and canceling Thursday night's scheduled Cruise Night. ACE was previously closed on Wednesday due to the heat wave.
"We will reopen Friday 7/25 at 11am," ACE told customers on Facebook.

Fans of the restaurant applauded the decision, with one writing, "thanks for caring."
The Village of Bolingbrook also canceled its Wednesday night concert due to the extreme heat. The trash pickup schedule was also adjusted in some areas due to the sweltering temperatures.

The National Weather Service warned of "stifling" heat and humidity, urging residents to check on their neighbors and the elderly and to take care to avoid heat stroke.
With an extreme heat watch in effect, NWS said staying indoors during heat waves whenever possible is the best way to stay cool. If you must go outdoors, go early or late in the day and dress in light-colored clothing.
Signs of heat exhaustion include dizziness, thirst, heavy sweating, nausea and weakness. If you notice these signs, you need to move to a cooler area, loosen clothing and sip cool water. Seek medical help if these symptoms don't improve, according to the weather service. Signs of heat stroke include confusion, dizziness and becoming unconscious. Call 911, move the person to a cooler area, loosen clothing and remove extra layers, and cool with water or ice.
