Alarm Sounds At Harrah's Casino, Woman Kept Gun In Her Purse: JPD
Elizabeth Brothers possessed a valid permit in Alabama for the firearm, according to Joliet police arrest reports.

JOLIET, IL — A 61-year-old woman from Boaz, Alabama, who traveled to downtown Joliet to gamble at the Harrah's Casino arrested and given a Notice to Appear on charges of unlawful use of a weapon and unlawful possession of ammunition.
Joliet police spokesman Dwayne English said Elizabeth Brothers was arrested over the weekend.
At 6:51 p.m. April 4, Joliet police responded to Harrah’s Casino at 151 N. Joliet St. for a report of a casino patron in possession of a gun.

Officers learned that while Brothers was entering the casino floor at the entrance turnstiles, a security alarm was triggered, English said. Security officers determined that Brothers had a handgun in her purse. Brothers possessed a valid permit in Alabama for the firearm, but the permit is not recognized in Illinois, according to police.
The handgun was recovered, and Brothers was placed into custody.
