JOLIET — Illinois Governor JB Pritzker has been asked to mark "Joliet" into his daily calendar because next Monday will bring the state's most powerful politicians to the Joliet area to mark the opening of the highly anticipated Route 59 and Interstate 55 interchange. This is the road construction project that was necessary for Cullinan Properties and its Rock Run Collections, where the new Joliet Hollywood Casino is being built, off in the distance.

A press release advisory was sent to Joliet Patch this week advising that in addition to Pritzker, Senators Dick Durbin and Tammy Duckworth have been invited to be in Joliet to mark the opening of the Route 59 and I-55 interchange.

It's being called the I-55 at Illinois 59 Access Project at I-55 and I-80. Besides the anticipated arrival of the governor and both Illinois senators, federal, regional and city of Joliet officials will be on hand for the ribbon-cutting.

In 2023, Joliet Patch reported that Cullinan Properties issued a press release announcing the reimagining of Rock Run Crossings into RockRun Collection. Effective May 1, 2023, the change reflects the evolution of the super-regional project under construction at the gateway to Chicagoland, the company's marketing staff outlined.

“As construction continues at the site, our feeling was that the development had evolved and needed to reflect more of the synergy we are cultivating with the possible tenant mix,” stated Matthew Beverly, CEO of Cullinan Properties, in his company's announcement. “We also wanted to continue to focus on the aspect of providing an environment where visitors and local residents can come and spend a day or the weekend.

"Being close with the Joliet community and creating a place they are proud of is important and why we strive to collaborate with local municipalities."
