$25,000 Donated To Spanish Community Center
On Wednesday, Alianza De Negocios presented a $25,000 check to the Spanish Community Center in Joliet.

On Wednesday, Alianza De Negocios, a division of the Joliet Region Chamber of Commerce & Industry, presented a $25,000 check to the Spanish Community Center. The Center’s Executive Director, Veronica Gloria, and several board members accepted the check during the monthly business workshop for local Latino entrepreneurs and business owners.
Proceeds for the Spanish Community Center were raised during the third annual Fiesta En La Calle festival, which took place in downtown Joliet on Saturday, September 8. The festival featured live music, vendors and a delicious food court along Chicago and Van Buren Streets.
“We are grateful for the support of our sponsors, partners and committee who made this event possible for Joliet. Fiesta En La Calle does more than bring thousands of people to downtown for one day of fun. It helps impact our community for days, months and years to come for those individuals that receive assistance from the Spanish Community Center and high school students that are awarded college scholarships,” said festival co-chair, Rosie Verdin.

The annual festival was put together with D-Arcy Buick-GMC, the grand presenting sponsor, to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month. Local and national acts performed, and there were a host of activities for the entire family to enjoy.
In addition to raising funds for the Spanish Community Center, proceeds from the festival also helped fund the Alianza de Negocios Scholarship Fund, which was created in 2017. It awards $2,000 scholarships to two graduating seniors from each of the three Joliet Township High School Campuses to assist in pursing a post-secondary education. Students can learn more about the scholarship fund from their guidance counselor.
