Angry Ex-Boyfriend Intentionally Rammed Car With Baby in Back Seat: Cops

The Joliet man was trying to get at his ex-girlfriend, police said.

JOLIET, IL — A Joliet man intentionally rammed his car into a vehicle with a baby in the back seat in an attempt to get at his ex-girlfriend, police said.

Nieko Hadley, 25, was grappling with his ex when officers arrived at the scene of the attack shortly after 8:30 p.m. Thursday, police said.

Hadley crashed his 2002 Dodge Durango into a 2002 Buick Rendezvous driven by a 28-year-old woman near the corner of Columbia and Creed streets, police said. Hadley’s 26-year-old ex-girlfriend was reportedly in the passenger seat of the Rendezvous and her 1-year-old daughter was sitting in the back.

Hadley slammed into the driver’s side of the Rendezvous, sending it over the curb and into a fence, police said. He then allegedly drove his Durango into the back of the car.

Hadley emerged from his sport utility vehicle and tried pulling open the passenger side door of the Rendezvous to get at his girlfriend, police said, but was unsuccessful. While he was busy with the door, the 28-year-old driver got out, went around and tried to intervene, “but she was quickly overpowered and strangled by Hadley,” according to the cops.

The ex-girlfriend then got out of the car and went at Hadley to try to help her friend, police said, and that was when the law arrived.

The 28-year-old woman reportedly suffered an injury to her leg and was taken to Presence St. Joseph Medical Center.

The ex-girlfriend and her baby were unharmed, police said. Hadley was arrested and taken to the Will County jail.
