Annual Historic Preservation Award Nominations Due April 9

To nominate a property or person for this award, nomination forms can be found on the City's Historic Preservation Commission website.

Nominations for the Annual Joliet Historic Preservation Award are due Friday April 9, 2021. The City of Joliet bestows this annual award, which recognizes properties that have undergone recent exterior and/or interior preservation, restoration, rehabilitation, adaptive use, or sympathetic additions, as well as people who exhibit dedication to the field of historic preservation. Last year’s winners included:

  • 623 Western Avenue for exterior improvements and landscaping that enhanced the historic character of the home and neighborhood.
  • 619 McDonough Street for exterior improvements that enhanced the historic character of the home and neighborhood.
  • 10 Hunter Avenue exterior improvements that enhanced the historic character of the home and neighborhood.

To nominate a property or person for this award, nomination forms can be found on the City’s Historic Preservation Commission website http://cityofjoliet.info/government/boards-commissions/joliet-historic-preservation-commission/annual-historic-preservation-award or, can be picked up in the Community Development Department at City Hall located at 150 W. Jefferson Street. Award winners will be recognized at a City Council meeting and receive a commemorative yard sign.
