Another Fire At Love's Travel Center Near Joliet: Here's What We Know So Far

The Morris news radio station WCSJ broke news of Thursday afternoon's fire at the Love's truck stop along Interstate 80.

MORRIS, IL — There is another fire taking place at the Love's Travel Center between Morris and Joliet along Interstate 80. Thursday's fire happened around 12:30 p.m. and the Morris Fire Department and Morris Police Department are now on scene at the Loves Truck Stop on Brisbin Road, according to Morris radio station WCSJ.

WCSJ revealed that firefighters responded to a semi-trailer fire just south of the diesel pumps behind the truck stop. The trailer also contained lithium batteries, according to WCSJ.

The same Love's Travel Center was the scene of a deadly fire in late 2023, Joliet Patch previously reported. On Nov. 30, 2023, Patch reported that Grundy County Coroner John Callahan’s Office released the identities of the two victims who died in an RV fire at the Love’s Travel Center in rural Grundy County that week.

The fire victims were identified as William S. Davis, 52, and Chelsi A. Bates, 31, both of Mena, Arkansas. The Love's gas station and truck stop is located along I-80 between Morris and Joliet, and it's at the Brisbin Road exit in rural Grundy County.
