Armed Robber Nabbed After 2 Stickups in Same Day: Cops

The bandit robbed a couple in a Richards Street parking lot and a man outside his home on Strong Avenue, police said.

JOLIET, IL — A Joliet teen wanted for pulling two stickups on the same day last week was collared after cops investigating a disturbance at a Bluff Street building found him there Tuesday night, police said.

Jacques Harris, 19, was jailed on armed robbery charges following his arrest shortly after 10 p.m.

Harris’ felonious Friday started with him robbing a couple in the parking lot of S&T Food Mart shortly before 5 p.m., police said.

Harris reportedly walked up to a car parked in the lot and asked the driver if he could break a $20. When the driver told him he could not, Harris allegedly pulled a gun and demanded all his money. Harris also took the purse away from a woman sitting in the passenger seat, police said.

Harris then allegedly moved onto Strong Avenue where — just four and a half hours after the Richards Street robbery — he ambushed a man as he pulled into his driveway and got out of his car.

Harris brandished a handgun, police said, and this time threatened to kill his victim.

The man ran off, police said, and when he returned, his gold Cadillac was gone. The car was later found on Mississippi Avenue.

Harris’ victims identified him as their assailant, police said, and officers were searching for him when they were sent to the Bluff Street disturbance.

Harris was reportedly taken into custody without incident. He remains at the Will County jail.
