BB Gun Shooter Fired Toward 2 Cops: Police

The two police officers were sitting in a marked squad car when a young man allegedly shot in their direction with a BB gun.

JOLIET, IL — A Joliet man fired a BB gun in the direction of two cops as they sat in a marked squad car, police said.

Andrew Knox, 24, was charged with reckless conduct in connection with the alleged June 4 incident. Knox appeared in court on the charge for the first time this week. He is free on his own recognizance.

The two officers were sitting in a squad car parked in the lot of South End Famous Steak & Lemonade on McDonough Street when a blue Buick LeSabre drove by about 2 a.m. One of the restaurant’s windows behind the squad car shattered as the LeSabre passed, police said, and a woman walking by asked the officers if they noticed that the Buick’s front seat passenger had shot a gun.

The cops reportedly took off after the LeSabre and pulled it over near the corner of Chicago Street and Patterson Road. The officers reportedly spotted what appeared to be a pistol — but turned out to be a BB Gun — on the floor of the car.

Along with Knox, the driver of the Buick, 27-year-old Delante Stribling, and a passenger riding in the back, Jehri Stribling, 24, were also taken into custody. The Striblings were charged with resisting.
