Bears Scarf-Wearing Armed Robber Nabbed During Traffic Stop: Cops

The Joliet man stuck up a motel and a GameStop, police said.

JOLIET, IL — A Joliet man who robbed a local motel and a GameStop while his face was covered with a Chicago Bears scarf was nabbed during a Tuesday afternoon traffic stop, police said.

William Beck, 37, allegedly held up both the Rodeway Inn on McDonough Street and a GameStop on Plainfield Road within two and a half hours Monday afternoon.

In both robberies, Beck brandished what appeared to be a pistol, demanded money and made his getaway on foot, police said. He also reportedly had his face covered with a Bears scarf in both stickups.

Detectives got a tip that Beck pulled the robberies and tracked him down shortly before 3 p.m. Tuesday. He was pulled over near the corner of Pine Street and Western Avenue.

Beck was in possession of a black Airsoft pistol at the time of his arrest, police said.

Beck also had a felony warrant out for his arrest charging him with driving on a revoked license in Grundy County.
