Beating Outside Bar Left Dad With Life-Threatening Head Injury: Cops
The father was trying to help his son, who had been in an altercation with four or five men, police said.

JOLIET, IL — A father was beaten unconscious and left clinging to life after intervening in a barroom altercation between his son and at least four other men, police said.
The 49-year-old man’s 23-year-old son was in an altercation with four or five men at Larsen’s Corner early Sunday morning, police said.
Everyone involved was outside the bar at the corner of Jefferson Street and Midland Avenue when the father was knocked to the ground and suffered a severe head injury, police said.

The father was taken to Presence St. Joseph Medical Center. At the time, his injury was considered life-threatening, according to police, who could not provide his current condition.
Bar staff had reportedly told police that surveillance video would be made available.
