While the teller was clearing the money out of her cash drawer, Bonds told her, “Don’t play stupid,” “Hurry up then,” and “Don’t say anything,” according to the affidavit. He then opened his backpack and showed her the butt of a handgun.
Brown and Bonds absconded with more than $2,000, the affidavit said, and made their getaway in a gold Toyota Corolla registered to Brown.
Bonds was captured in Bolingbrook. Brown, who recently lived in Plainfield, according to Will County Sheriff’s Department records, was apprehended the same day in Rockford.
Bonds was released from state prison in March. He did time for theft and obstructing justice.
Bonds was arrested in 2011 for allegedly ripping off people who were trying to sell things on Craigslist. Bonds and another man made arrangements to meet the sellers, but then stole the property instead of buying it, CBS Chicago reported. Bonds and the other man then allegedly attempted to sell the stolen property on Craigslist.
