Braidwood Cops Raid Another Heroin House, Arrest 1: Police

A Braidwood man was jailed and 10 bags of heroin were seized, police said.

Police raided another Braidwood residence and arrested a man after allegedly finding heroin in the house.

Mickey Nelson, 45, was taken into custody and booked into the Will County jail. Braidwood police armed with a search warrant hit Nelson’s French Street house shortly before 7 p.m. Thursday.

Police reportedly seized 10 bags of heroin.

Drug Enforcement Administration agents worked with the Braidwood police on the investigation of Nelson. The Will County Sheriff’s Department, as well as the Wilmington, Coal City and Elwood police also assisted.

The Braidwood police have conducted a succession of heroin raids dating back to late last year. Police Chief Nick Ficarello said that despite his 32 years experience with the sheriff’s department, he had not realized the severity of the heroin problem in the southern Will County town.
