Chase Bank on Route 59 Robbed

Two men robbed the bank south of Theodore Street, according to the FBI.

The Chase bank branch on Route 59 south of Theodore Street was robbed Tuesday.

Joliet Police Chief Brian Benton said the FBI was handling the investigation and deferred to them when asked for information on the robbery.

FBI spokeswoman Joan Hyde said two men robbed the bank without showing a weapon but did make threats about using one.

Hyde gave no description of the men other than that they are black.

Witnesses said there was a massive police presence at the bank Tuesday afternoon. Hyde said federal agents were sent to investigate the robbery.
