Chemical Attack at Walmart Carried Out on Man, Woman and Child: Cops

At least one child, and possibly two, were attacked, police said.

JOLIET, IL — A Joliet woman carried out a chemical attack on two adults and at least one child at a Joliet Walmart, police said.

Devetta White, 32, is wanted on felony charges of aggravated battery and aggravated battery to a child, and misdemeanor counts of domestic battery and harassment.

The day after Christmas, White used a “chemical substance” to attack Jasmine Lee, 25, Michael White and a child or children with the initials J.E. Lee has two children with those initials, according to court papers. They are 5 and 7.

Michael White was hit in the face with the unspecified chemical substance, the complaint said.

Devetta White’s husband and father-in-law are both named Michael White. It was not clear if either man was the Michael White allegedly hit in the face with the chemical substance.

Devetta White alleged unleashed her chemical attack at the Walmart on West Jefferson Street, the complaint said.

Devetta White remains at large. The warrant for her arrest carries a $25,000 bond.
