Child, 7, Attacked In Joliet, Arrest Made After DCFS Involvement

Joliet police stopped the vehicle near South Raynor Avenue and Haldemann Avenue and took Patrick Evans into custody without incident.

JOLIET, IL — A 25-year-old Joliet man who lives on Mustang Drive is now in the Will County Jail in connection with an attack upon a 7-year-old boy.

According to Joliet police, Patrick Evans was booked into the Will County Adult Detention Facility on Saturday night on charges of aggravated battery and domestic battery.

According to Joliet police spokesman Dwayne English, the following events led up to the Evans arrest:

On December 27, 2023, at 1:01 p.m., the Joliet Police Department was notified by the Department of Child and Family Services about a 7-year-old boy who that may have been attacked by Evans.

In early November, the victim was attacked while visiting Evans at a residence in the 400 block of South Ottawa Street. The attack was learned after the child returned to his mother, who lives out of state.

Detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Evans on March 6.

Then on March 23, 2024, at 9:30 p.m., Joliet police saw Evans driving a Dodge Challenger and had knowledge of the arrest warrant. Officers stopped the vehicle near South Raynor Avenue and Haldemann Avenue and took Evans into custody without incident.
