Collins Street Water Main Project To Bring Joliet Street Closures
Closures along Collins Street will begin on Monday and Joliet-area motorists can expect delays and detours through November 3.

JOLIET, IL — Joliet drivers using Collins Drive will need to plan alternate routes for the near future work on a water main improvement project began on Monday, city officials said.
Work on the Collins Street Water Main Improvement Project on Collins Street between Liberty Street and Hills Avenue began on Monday and is expected to continue through May 1, 2024.
The project requires that significant traffic controls be installed for the duration of the project, the city said in a news release. A full road closure will be required for the work on Collins Street between Ward Avenue and Meeker Avenue beginning on October 16.

It is anticipated that the work between Ward Avenue and Meeker Avenue will be completed, and the road reopened to vehicle traffic by November 3. Detour routes will be posted.
Drivers should be prepared for long delays and are reminded to slow down and use extreme caution when driving through the work zone. Obey the posted speed limit and signage and watch for workers or flaggers. For the safety of workers and drivers, motorists are asked not to use their cell phones or text while driving.
