Construction Worker Killed in Fall at Crest Hill Job Site

CREST HILL, IL — A construction worker from Iowa was killed in a fall at a Crest Hill job site.

Fernando Gamez, 42, of Sioux City, Iowa, was pronounced dead shortly before 11 a.m. Sunday at the Presence St. Joseph Medical Center emergency room.

Gamez was working at a site on Division Street and was fatally injured when he “fell from heights,” according to the Will County Coroner’s Office.

The Crest Hill Police Department and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration are investigating the apparent accident.

An autopsy was scheduled for Tuesday.
