Coroner IDs Man Found Shot To Death In Crest Hill
The 47-year-old was found dead in the 1100 block of Elizabeth Court on Tuesday.
CREST HILL, IL — The Will County Coroner's Office has identified the man found shot to death Tuesday in Crest Hill as 47-year-old Damen D. McKenzie.
McKenzie, of Crest Hill, was found shot inside a vehicle after officers responded to a report of shots fired at around 1 p.m. Tuesday in the 1100 block of Elizabeth Court, according to police.
The coroner did not give a cause of death, although police said Tuesday that he was shot, but said McKenzie death was "an apparent homicide." The Will-Grundy Major Crimes Task Force is investigating the case.

The killing marks the second fatal shooting on the same block of Elizabeth Court in just over three weeks. On Nov. 25, a man was found lying on the ground there with multiple gunshot wounds. The man, later identified as 31-year-old Uarl Hunter, was taken to St. Joe's hospital, where he died of his injuries.
As with Hunter's death in November, police said they believe Tuesday's slaying was targeted and "not a random threat to the community."
