Last week, Grundy County Coroner John Callahan announced that his staff was investigating the industrial incident in Morris that claimed the life of the Odell resident.

On April 3, Callahan said that two men were working together at the Narvick Cement Plant, at 755 E. Route 6. While trying to free up the fin and shaft, the unit broke free, knocking Umgelder to the base of the large drum. The Morris Fire Department responded to the site, removed Umgelder from the confined space and rushed him to Morris Hospital, where he died at 9:26 a.m.
