Couple Caught in Car Outside Closed Supermarket Had Gun and Knife: Cops

The man made a run for it and went to jail after he was caught, police said.

JOLIET, IL — The cops checked out a couple parked outside a closed east side supermarket and arrested them after they found a gun and a knife, police said.

Andjonne Shoemake, 29, and Lanita Faint, 25, were in a car parked outside El Ranchito on East Cass Street shortly before 11 p.m. Monday.

An officer who went to check on the car reportedly spotted a knife on the floor of the vehicle. After he ordered the couple out of the car and searched them, he found a pistol in the waistband of Faint’s pants.

Shoemake made a run for it but was captured nearby, police said. He reportedly admitted the gun was his and he was taken to the Will County jail.

Faint was released on her own recognizance.
