Crack Cocaine Dealer From Crest Hill Arrested In Joliet: Police
Donte Wash tried to run from Joliet police but fell to the ground and continued to resist efforts to take him into custody, authorities say.

JOLIET, IL — A young man from Crest Hill now faces criminal charges from the Joliet Police Department after officers say Donte Wash tried to run from a traffic stop, falling to the ground, before struggling with the officers making the arrest, according to police reports.
Last Friday night's incident resulted in Wash being arrested and released from custody on a Notice to Appear related to charges of possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver and also obstructing a peace officer.
Joliet police spokesman Dwayne English said at 6:42 p.m., Joliet police pulled over a Subaru near Division Street and North Broadway Street for a seatbelt violation. Wash was a passenger in the rear of the vehicle.

While officers spoke to Wash, Wash appeared to be fidgeting with his waistband, according to English. Officers gave verbal commands for Wash to stop reaching for his waistband.
While Wash was exiting the vehicle, police said he had cannabis on him. Wash then refused to place his hands behind his back. Wash tried to run from the officers but fell to the ground, where he continued to resist attempts to place him into custody, according to English.

Upon searching Wash, Joliet police say officers recovered suspected crack cocaine that appeared to be packaged for sale.
During the traffic stop, police said officers learned that the cannabis was owned by front seat passenger Willie Dabney, age 43, of Joliet.
Dabney was cited for possession of cannabis by a passenger, and he was released at the scene.
