Crash Leaves Young Man With Multiple Skull Fractures, Bleeding On Brain

The young man was still clinging to life Wednesday, police said.

JOLIET, IL — A young man from Joliet suffered multiple skull fractures and bleeding on his brain in a Tuesday night wreck on the Interstate 55 frontage road.

The 21-year-old was riding in a 2000 Chevy pickup truck driven by a 21-year-old from Plainfield.

The two men were heading north on the frontage road shortly before 9 p.m. When the pickup reached the curve at Black Road, the truck crossed into the southbound lane, ran off the road, hit a small tree and then a larger tree, and finally came to rest facing west.

Fire department paramedics transported both men to Presence St. Joseph Medical Center. The Joliet man’s injuries are life-threatening, police said.

The driver had been drinking but there was no indication he was intoxicated, police said. His blood-alcohol content was reportedly below the legal limit.

No charges have been filed in connection with the crash.
