DEA Jails Man Gunned Down By Agents Outside Louis Mall
He was taken from the hospital to the Will County jail.

JOLIET, IL — A man police said was gunned down by federal agents outside the Louis Joliet mall Tuesday was released from the hospital and taken to the Will County jail.
Adan Godinez, 31, was transported to the jail by Drug Enforcement Administration agents shortly before 6 p.m., according to county records.
Godinez was hospitalized after he was shot by the DEA, police said.

Another man, 43-year-old Fernando Godinez of Cicero, was jailed the night of the shooting. Fernando Godinez has since been transferred to the Metropolitan Correctional Center in Chicago.
Fernando Godinez was listed as Fernando Gondinez in county jail records.

The shooting outside the mall happened during a drug investigation, police said.
On the night of the shooting, Special Agent Leo Hawkins, the DEA’s Chicago spokesman, said he would not comment or provide any information on the incident. Hawkins said he would provide information later but has still failed to do so.
