Dogs Rescued As Home Goes Up In Flames On Joliet's West Side
Animal Control responded to the scene and transported both dogs to an emergency veterinary clinic.

JOLIET — J0liet Fire Department Battalion Chief Tim Chaplin announced that Wednesday morning's significant house fire at 301 Hyde Park resulted in the rescue of two dogs.
According to the battalion chief:
At 9:20 a.m., the Joliet Fire Department responded to 301 Hyde Park Avenue for a house fire with possibly one person and several pets still trapped inside.

Hyde Park is near Morgan Avenue in the St. Pat's Area.
Joliet's firefighters saw heavy smoke and flames coming from the front of the two-story single-family dwelling. Two dogs were rescued from the structure and suffered smoke inhalation as well as burns.

Animal Control responded to the fire and took both dogs to an emergency veterinary clinic.
All other residents were determined to be out of the structure. Red Cross responded to the scene to assist the residents of the home. Other fire crews performed water supply, search, ventilation, salvage, overhaul, safety and support functions.
The fire was declared under control at 9:45 a.m. Fire crews from stations 1, 5, 6 and 7 responded to the scene. There were other no injuries, and the cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
