Drunk Guy Broke Into Funeral Home, Smashed TV and Fake Plant: Cops

He tried to break through an office door but failed, police said.

JOLIET, IL — A drunk man broke into a funeral home and smashed a flat screen TV and fake plant before the cops captured him, police said.

The police were reportedly first alerted to an intoxicated man kicking cars parked on Henderson Avenue near Jackson Street about 5:30 p.m. Monday.

The man — Ronald Rozner, 31, of Wilmington — made his way down Jackson Street to Delgado Funeral Home on Landau Avenue, police said, and forced his way inside.

When officers arrived, the funeral home’s owner was shouting for Rozner to get out, police said, but Rozner didn’t get out, and instead walked around the building, even as officers told him to stop.

Officers eventually subdued Rozner and learned from the funeral home owner that he caught the intruder trying to open a locked glass office door, police said. When he couldn’t get it open, Rozner reportedly pulled a TV off the wall and smashed it against the door, police said, and when he still couldn’t get in the office, tossed the television down the stairs. He also allegedly threw a plastic plant down the stairs.

Both the TV and the fake plant broke, police said.

After he was arrested, Rozner threw up in the back of a squad car, police said. He was taken to the Will County jail.
