Drunk Punched Cop in Face After Refusing to Get Out of Car: Police
He had been driving around in the dark without headlights, police said.

JOLIET, IL — A drunk driver punched a cop in the face after refusing to get out of his car, police said.
Joel Lopez-Martinez, 29, didn’t have his headlights on while was driving around about 3 a.m. Saturday, police said, and an officer spotted him turning off Hammes Avenue onto Jefferson Street.
The officer reportedly caught up to Lopez-Martinez when he pulled into the driveway of his Douglas Street home. The officer ordered him out of the car so he could perform sobriety tests, according to police.

Lopez-Martinez repeatedly refused to get out of the car, police said, and he grabbed onto the steering wheel to resist getting pulled out.
As he was dragged out of the car, police said, Lopez-Martinez punched the officer in the face. Lopez-Martinez was then knocked to the ground and arrested.

Lopez-Martinez was taken to the Will County jail.
