Ex-Con Charged with Joliet Man's Murder

The two men had argued prior to the killing, police said.

The Joliet man killed by a bullet to his brain Sunday night was shot by an ex-convict he had quarrelled with earlier in the evening.

Darrell Stuckey, 24, allegedly gunned down 24-year-old Duntell Lecure Neal. Neal was sitting in a car parked outside his Union Street home when Stuckey shot him in the head, police said. Neal died a few hours later at Presence St. Joseph Medical Center.

Witnesses told detectives that Stuckey and Neal argued with each other earlier in the evening, said Deputy Police Chief Al Roechner.

Stuckey, a Joliet resident, agreed to stop by the police department for questioning Wednesday, Roechner said.

Stuckey was initially held on a charge of aggravated discharge of a firearm and on a Department of Corrections warrant while the murder case was put together and filed against him Thursday.
