Explosion, Fire Sends One to Hospital

NBC Chicago reporting explosion may have been caused by gas.

An explosion and fire on Joliet’s east side sent one man to the hospital Sunday night.

The fire in the 200 block of Southeast Circle started at about 9 p.m. after what may have been a gas explosion, according to a NBC Chicago report.

Firefighters worked for hours trying to contain the fire. A family next door to the home was also evacuated, the news station said.

The man was flown by helicopter to a Chicago hospital to be treated for severe burns.
