Falling Debris From I-55 Bridge Closes Black Road: Joliet Police

Motorists were also reporting that I-55 was at a standstill as police said state officials were en route to the scene.

JOLIET, IL — Joliet police said all lanes of Black Road were closed Monday afternoon due to falling debris from the interstate bridge onto I-55.

By 5:15 p.m., police issued an update saying all lanes of Black Road had reopened.

According to police, Black Road was closed between the Northeast Frontage Road and Bronk Road.

On social media, motorists were reporting that I-55 was also at a "standstill" in the area.

Police said state authorities were on their way to inspect the bridge.
