Felony DUI After Utility Pole Crash At Theodore, Essington: JPD
Marlene Strysik, 60, was also cited by Joliet police for improper lane use and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.

JOLIET — A 60-year-old Joliet woman was arrested in recent days on felony DUI charges after Marlene Strysik crashed into a ComEd pole at the busy intersection of Theodore and Essington Roads, according to the Joliet police.
Strysik was let go under the SAFE-T-Act and given her notice to appear in court on charges of aggravated DUI and DUI.

On May 16, at 9:16 p.m., officers responded to Essington Road and Theodore Street for a single vehicle crash. A Honda CR-V that had left the roadway and struck a metal ComEd pole on the northeast side of the intersection. Strysik was the driver of the Honda, and she was unable to provide information as to how the collision occurred.
Officers determined that the Honda was the only vehicle involved in the crash and learned that Strysik was uninjured.

Strysik demonstrated behaviors consistent with alcohol impairment, and officers learned that she had consumed alcohol prior to driving. Strysik refused to perform field sobriety tests, and she was placed into custody without incident. Strysik was also cited for improper lane use and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, and her vehicle was towed from the scene.
