Wilmington Fentanyl Dealer Arrested By Will County: Sheriff

WILMINGTON, IL — A 54-year-old resident of Wilmington is back in the Will County Jail for the first time since 2019, after Will County Sheriff's deputies arrested David Wells on drug-dealing charges this week. Wells, of the 21600 block of West Grand Avenue, was booked into the county jail at 7:40 p.m. Monday.

Wells has been charged with unlawful possession of controlled substances with intent to deliver and also unlawful possession of a controlled substance.

The criminal complaint alleges that Wells knowingly and unlawfully possessed 15 or more grams of fentanyl back on Sept. 1, 2023, and that Wells intended to deliver the illegal substance to others.

Wells' arrest resulted from a Will County Sheriff's investigation, and Will County Judge Donald DeWilkins has ordered the Wilmington man to remain incarcerated for a pretrial detention hearing.
