Fenton's Motel Guest Suffers Pistol-Whipping To His Face, Man Arrested: Joliet Police

JOLIET, IL — Joliet police investigated a brutal attack upon a guest staying at the Fenton's Motel on West Jefferson Street, resulting in the arrest of 35-year-old Alec Knox of Joliet on charges of aggravated robbery and aggravated battery.
Knox is now being kept in the Will County Jail.
According to Joliet police spokesman Dwayne English, at 8:22 a.m. July 2, officers responded to the emergency room at St. Joseph Medical Center for an attack victim who was believed to have been harmed at a different location. At the hospital, officers met with a 46-year-old victim, who sustained extensive injuries to his face. The victim said he was previously in a guest room at the Fenton’s Motel at 2305 W. Jefferson St. with a man and two women, drinking alcohol and using narcotics.

The suspect in the room grew angry at the victim and accused him of stealing narcotics, according to police. English said the suspect then took a handgun from a drawer and struck the victim multiple times in the face with the handgun. The suspect is accused of stealing money from the victim’s wallet during the attack. The victim then left the room and went to the hospital for medical treatment.
English said Joliet Police Tactical Officers identified the suspect as Knox. Knox was placed into custody a short time later after being found at the Baymont hotel at 1730 McDonough St.
