JOLIET, IL — A janitorial services company that cleaned the Rialto Square Theatre for six years has been stiffed out of nearly $25,000, according to a lawsuit filed in Will County court.

Unicare Building Maintenance claims the Will County Metropolitan Exposition and Auditorium Authority still owes it $23,383.10.

The Mokena cleaning company serviced the embattled theater from May 2010 until April 29, 2016, the lawsuit said.

The Rialto is in dire financial straits, with one prospective third-party manager predicting it would lose $693,000 in the first year of a proposed deal.

Joliet Mayor Bob O’Dekirk said he was not aware of the lawsuit but did not find it difficult to believe.

“I’m not surprised that they’re being sued, because I have had vendors, including an artist who performed there last year, calling City Hall and telling me that they haven’t been paid,” O’Dekirk said. “And obviously it’s not our bill.”
