Fireworks Not Gunshots At Riverwalk Homes Leads To Arrest
While being taken to the Joliet Police Department, Rodney Williams made numerous threats to physically injure an officer, authorities say.

JOLIET — The Joliet Police Department took 31-year-old Marion Street resident Rodney Williams into custody at the Will County Jail over the weekend in connection with an incident at the Riverwalk Homes property, 316 North Bluff Street.
Now, Williams finds himself being charged with aggravated assault to a peace officer, obstructing a peace officer and obstructing justice.
Joliet police spokesman Dwayne English said the events leading to the arrest happened this way early Sunday:

- At 12:45 a.m., officers were at the Riverwalk Homes, 316 North Bluff Street, conducting a separate investigation for shots fired that were quickly determined to be fireworks and not gunfire.
- During this investigation, officers learned of a domestic disturbance at the same location.
- Officers encountered a male, later identified as Williams, and female regarding the disturbance. Throughout this investigation, Williams was uncooperative with officers and refused to provide his identity and attempted to walk away. Williams was taken into custody. While being transported to the Joliet Police Department, Williams made numerous threats to physically injure an officer.
- Williams refused to cooperate with the booking process and was transferred to the Will County Adult Detention Facility. Officers were eventually able to confirm Williams’ identity.
